HAVN was founded by Matthew Rygh, a 25 year old artist and creator, inspired by a lineage of Norwegian craftsmanship. His grandfather, a woodworker who emigrated from Norway during its occupation in WWII, passed down an eye for form, material, and function. That sensibility lives on in the mid-century pieces Matthew grew up admiring. His personal taste seeks to blend the airy tones and minimalism found in Scandinavian Modernism with the optimism and forward-thinking attitude of California Modernism.

HAVN exists to champion that same spirit. A belief that objects should be made with intention—meant to last, meant to be lived with. While mass production has stripped much of that ethos away, we believe there are still designers, artists, and craftspeople who carry the torch forward.

Havn is a collective of people who reflect these values. People who not only collect, but also curate, restore, or even make these items themselves for the world to appreciate and take home.
