A signed Victor Vasarely Planetary Folklore Participations No. 2 and the taupe laminate table built to hold it — one of two ever made, the other to Charles Simonyi, custom-made for his home in Medina, Seattle, ca. 1987. Photographed together in architect Wendell Lovett's own living room. The art piece is signed and numbered 40/500.

  • Provenance: Vasarely's 1971 Participations No. 2: a 60 cm panel of 800 coded plastic pieces the owner is invited to rearrange, with the one unit he signed by hand fixed in place at the lower right. It comes with the taupe laminate table built to hold it, attributed by our consigner to Seattle architect Wendell Lovett, who made two. The other went to Charles Simonyi, whose Medina house Lovett designed around his Vasarely collection. Photographed together in Lovett's own living room around 2012.   • Dimensions: 34 x 34 x 16"
  • Condition: 
    • Artwork: Good. Scattered scuffs and specks across units, light soiling; frame true. Instruction sheet foxed, with one highlighter marks over the reference to "Legos". Exact number of pieces has not been counted, but see images for the aggregated bags of pieces.
    • Table: Good. Light edge wear and surface marks consistent with domestic use. 
  • Materials: 
    • Artwork: 800 coded plastic unities (400 fonds, 400 formes) on Lego-system fixation panel, aluminium frame
    • Table: Taupe laminate over case, rotated upper plane, black reveal, inset grey disc, pull-out drawers to two faces

Returns & Cancellations

All sales are final. The condition of each vintage item is disclosed to the best of our abilities in the description of each listing. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the shop before purchasing. We are happy to answer any questions and send additional photos before you purchase to make sure you feel confident with your decision. For cancelled orders, please see below for our terms regarding a restocking fee.
Restocking Fee

If an order is cancelled or no attempts have been made to pickup or schedule delivery within 14 days of purchase, we will refund purchases to the original payment method minus credit card fees and a 30% restocking fee. This is to ensure that the business is able to operate regularly and offer first-come first serve items.

Items held past 14 days reduce our storage and ability to bring in new inventory. It is our hope that we do not need to do this, so please reach out to us if this 14 day window is not attainable.
