Description
Woven in the mountainous Genje region of the southeastern Caucasus, this late 19th-century piece is a masterclass in graphic tension. The bold medallions—outlined in stepped, almost digital forms—float over a densely packed field of diamonds, rosettes, and amulets. Red, indigo, ivory, and gold tones speak in a high-contrast palette favored by weavers in nomadic Azeri communities of the time.
